With over 100 compositions in his oeuvre, Darin Lewis composes music in all genres including large-scale symphonic orchestra and choral works, chamber ensemble, solo voice, concert band, piano, and organ.
Mr. Lewis is the recipient of numerous awards and grants, including 2nd place nationally in The American Project Competition, he is active as festival judge and clinician and his list of commissioned works continues to grow.
Darin has conducted at major venues throughout the Eastern United States, including performances at Alice Tully Hall, Columbia University, St. Bartholomew’s Church, Grace Church and at the Alliance Francais, with the Little Orchestra Society of New York. He has toured England, France, Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Argentina, Uruguay, and Germany with performances at major venues in Paris, Barcelona, Florence, Rome, Leipzig, Halle, London, Buenos Aires, and Berlin. He has been a guest conductor with numerous ensembles and has been invited several times to conduct at the Music Educator’s Eastern Division Regional Conference. He has led workshops in Massachusetts, New York, California and Connecticut. In addition to conducting, Mr. Lewis is a pianist and a commissioned composer. He is currently the Conductor of the Lafayette College Chamber Orchestra, Director of Music at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Stamford, CT., and Artistic Director of the Simpatico Chamber Ensemble
Born in Charleston South Carolina, and having grown up in Northern California, Lewis now lives in Connecticut with his wife and two children.
